Notice of Nondiscrimination
Any form of discrimination and/or harassment, whether because of one’s race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, marital status, veteran status, GINA (the Genetic Nondiscrimination Identification Act), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws or activity is prohibited. These prohibitions apply to the workplace, other work-related settings, such as business trips and college-related social events or in any capacity that an employee or student is representing the college or on college property.

Protected categories include: one’s race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, marital status, veteran status, GINA (the Genetic Nondiscrimination Identification Act), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws or activity is prohibited.

Regardless of the merits of the underlying complaint, retaliation is prohibited against anyone who has reported discrimination and/or harassment or who has participated in an investigation of discrimination and/or harassment. Failure to cooperate fully and truthfully may result in discipline.

Institutional and Program Accreditation, Approval, or Licensure
McPherson College is a private college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Our teacher education program is certified by the Kansas State Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. As a rule, the rights to intellectual property developed by students or employees as a result of creative, scholarly, or entrepreneurial activity remain exclusively with the individual or group of individuals responsible for developing that intellectual property. Complaint and Grievance Procedures
Student Complaint and Grievance Procedure Students should be aware that, should they have complaints about their academic program or their financial aid, McPherson College has a complaint procedure located in the Student Handbook. To the extent possible, students should seek a resolution of such matters through the institution’s complaint procedure before involving others.

State of Kansas Complaint Procedures Should the institution not be able to resolve the student complaint, the student has the right to contact the state of Kansas and its appropriate agency to determine the course of action. Complaints can be filed with the following agencies in Kansas:

  • Complaints related to the application of state laws or rules related to approval to operate or licensure of a particular professional program within a postsecondary institution shall be referred to the appropriate State Board (i.e., State Boards of Health, State Board of Education, and so on) within the Kansas State Government and shall be reviewed and handled by that licensing board (http://kanview.ks.gov/AgencyListing.aspx and then search for the appropriate division);
  • Complaints related to state consumer protection laws (e.g., laws related to fraud or false advertising) shall be referred to the Consumer Protection Division in the office of the Kansas Attorney General and shall be reviewed and handled by that Unit (http://ag.ks.gov/consumer-protection).
